Is the picture perfect green lawn avoiding you? Maybe
chinch bugs, the brown patch disease, weeds and more
ruined your good turf. You are left with big patches of
brown or maybe an entirely dead lawn. If you are in the
market for a new lawn or just some patchwork –
installation is all the same.
This time don’t
just toss good sod over dead grass or even lawns mowed
down to the ground. Chances are if you do, you will be
in the market again for a new lawn.
Follow new
lawn installation by the numbers and you are almost
assured of being a success.
1. Kill or remove all
weeds or unwanted greenery. 2. Till the soil 4 to 6
inches deep 3. Have your soil pH tested at your local
University of Florida Extension office and adjust as
needed. 4. Make sure the soil is moist at the time of
sodding 5. Lay the sod and keep it moist 6. Water
once a day the first week, every other day the second
week and every third day the third week. Extra waterings
may be needed during hot dry weather. 7. Feed at week
3 or 4 with a lawn fertilizer. 8. By week 4 the lawn
should be rooted and can be cared for on an as needed
bases 9. Mow the lawn when needed —— there is no
specific time to wait after sodding or patching. 10.

have any questions or want more information contact your
