Container Garden (click to enlarge)

What could be easier than creating a planter of two for
the landscape? They are small gardens that need little
room and can usually be created for less than $10 if
you have the pot and soil Let’s get a bit patriotic
and show our colors proudly during July. I created this
planter for only $8. It contains one red hot pentas,
three white zinnias and three bluish torenia. If you
visit the garden center you can find many more red,
white and blue flowers too.
We find planters just
a convenient way of adding spots of color to the
landscape. They can be placed where they are needed and
moved if you change your mind. You cannot do this so
easily with flower beds.
When one plant declines
just pull it out and add some more. Pictured are some of
our containers heading into summer. We have used the hot
colors of orange and red zinnias, marigolds and celosia.
I bet you can come up with a lot more. Also in the back
ground are the great coleus that have lots of summer
colors too.
Don’t let your landscape, porch or
patio go without color give containers a try.
