You have been busy running errands, helping family members and making needed repairs to the home. There has been little time to do anything outdoors but mow the grass. And now it's summer.

Don't fret any longer, you can still have an attractive landscape full of flowers. Also the tall hedge you have always wanted can be planted and the vegetables garden brought back into production. Make your yard the envy of the neighborhood - but don't wait much longer.
One way to catch up fast is to select plants in the larger containers to create the instant garden. The try a few more of our short cuts and hints to help rejuvenate your landscape in an afternoon.
Save time preparing gardens and planters by using a potting soil to enrich the site. Dig the new soil into the sandy ground or fill the containers and plant.
Create spots of color in the landscape rather than big beds. Devote large areas to ground covers or mulch to reduce the work.
Plant annual flowers full of blooms for instant color. Select plants in four inch to one gallon containers. Space them with the leaves just touching. 
Purchase planted colorful dish gardens. Set one or more gardens at an entrance and on the patio. They can also be used along walkways and among shrubs for spots of color.
Select the heat tolerant vegetables and herbs for the garden. Where possible obtain plants in pots to save a month or more of growing time.
